Dalit atrocities : Mayawati to visit Gujarat today

| | Aug 04, 2016, at 06:18 pm
New Delhi, Aug 4 (IBNS) : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati will visit Gujarat to meet the Una attack victims on Thursday.

She is the latest politician to visit the area following the countrywide uproar over the attack of few Dalit men allegedly for skinng a dead cow.

The opposition parties have been up in arms against the ruling BJP for the recent spurt of violence against Dalits in the country.

As Gujarat goes to Assembly polls next year, several opposition parties, including the Congress, have taken up the Dalit issue to strike while the iron is hot.

After the Rohith Vemula suicide episoed in Hyderabad, the 11 July incident in Una, where four Dalit men were tied and beaten up by a group of cow vigilantes has united the opposition parties in protests inside and outside Parliament.
