Ahmedabad,Aug 28 (IBNS) Curfew was lifted in three out of nine areas of Ahmedabad on Friday as no fresh incident of violence was reported overnight and the situation started returning to normal.

However, reports said the  Army continued flag march in some sensitive areas.

Curfew was clamped in nine areas of the city - Nikol, Odhav, Ramol, Bapunagar, Ghatlodia, Naranpura, Naroda, Krishnanagar and Vadaj - on August 26 after widespread violence, incidents of arson and stone-pelting during the agitation by Patel community seeking reservation under OBC category.

The other parts of Gujarat like Rajkot, Surat, Banaskantha and Mehsana have also not reported any major incident of violence since Thursday.

Several persons were killed in police firing in different parts of the state.

The agitation is being spearheaded by 22-year-old Hardik Patel, who has demanded a compsensation of Rs. 35 lakh each to the families of those killed in police firing.
