Crime against children up as per number of registered cases

New Delhi, Mar 3 (IBNS) Minister of Women and Child Development, Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, in reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday said that as per National Crime Records Bureau, a total of 38,172 cases, 58,224 cases and 89,423 cases were registered under crime against children during 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively.

She also said that the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, which came into force on Jan 15, 2016, has provisions for punishment relating to offences against children, viz. punishment for cruelty to child, employment of child for begging, sale and procurement of children for any purpose etc.
