Craig L. Hall takes over as new US Consul General in Kolkata

Kolkata, Aug 19 (IBNS) Craig L. Hall took up his assignment as U.S. Consul General in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Immediately before coming to Kolkata, he served as the Deputy Political Counselor in U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia.  Craig has also served in Seoul, Korea; Mosul, Iraq; Canberra, Australia; and Surabaya, Indonesia.

Soon after his arrival, Craig remarked, “I am excited to be in this historic and lively city of Kolkata.  I am eagerly looking forward to visit different states in Eastern India and meet with its wonderful people in the coming months.”

Craig is joined by his wife, Meeryung, and 19-year-old daughter, Ana.  His 15-year-old son, Tyler, will continue his studies in the United States.

"Craig holds a bachelor's degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida and completed a Ph.D. in religious studies at Baylor University in Texas, with a focus on the relationship between religion and politics," read an official statement.

Craig is from Florida and joined the Foreign Service in 1999.
