COVID-19: UP to provide Rs 1000 to workers affected due to lock down
Lucknow/UNI: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched a scheme to provide Rs 1000 to the daily wage workers and others who have been impacted with the lock down.
The scheme named as "Nar Sewa- Narayan Sewa, Sharamik Bharan Poshan Yogjna" was launched at the residence of the CM with labourers started getting Rs 1000 in their bank account through RTGS.
Yogi Adityanath while talking to media here said that around 20 lakh workers registered with the labour department and another 15 lakh labourers would get the amount of Rs 1000 in their bank account.
He thanked the Allahabad Bank for making arrangements for such swift transfer of the amount in such short notice.
The CM directed the social welfare department to make arrangements immediately to provide pension to the widows, handicapped and others while the food and supply department should step up to provide 20 kilograms of wheat and 15 kilograms of rice to the poor.
Over 1.65 crore construction workers and daily labourers registered under Antyodaya Yojana, MNREGA with the Labour Department were likely to get free ration.
The CM also asked all the District Magistrates to identify the poor who could be provided Rs 1000.
"We have already sent required amount to all the districts," he said.
UP government was expected to spend around Rs 150 crore to provide this immediate relief.
