COVID 19 Outbreak in India: Delhi Metro suspends service till Mar 31

New Delhi/IBNS: Keeping in mind the COVID 19 outbreak in India, Delhi Metro on Sunday said it has decided to suspend its service till Mar 31.

The announcement was made on a day when the country is witnessing 'Janata Curfew'.

The Centre has adviced state governments to lockdown 75 districts where the virus outbreak has been confirmed.

As a precautionary measure against the spread of novel coronavirus which has already claimed six lives in India, country's rail ministry on Sunday declared to suspend all passenger train services till Mar 31 midnight.

According to reports, all long-distance mail/express/premium trains, intercity passenger trains, suburban local trains and Kolkata metro rail services will remain closed from tonight till Mar 31.

Indian Railways officials said that those trains, which had commenced their journey before 4 am. on Sunday (Mar 22), will run up to their destinations while freight train operations will be run normally in the country.

Meanwhile, all roads across the country wore deserted look as people remained in their homes in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call Janata Curfew call in order to break the chain of COVID-19 infection that is spreading fast in the country with number of infected people crossing 340 today.
