COVID-19 outbreak: Famous Bagh-e-Bahu, Bagh-e-Bhour gardens closed in Jammu

Jammu/UNI: In the backdrop of coronavirus pandemic, Department of Floriculture on Wednesday ordered closure of Bagh-e-Bahu and Bagh-e-Bhour gardens here for general public till March 31.

"Keeping in view the prevailing situation regarding the incidence of COVID-19, the Bagh-e-Bahu garden and Bagh-e-Bhour garden are closed for the general public till March 31," K S Chib, Director, Floriculture, Parks and Gardens, Jammu here told UNI.

He further said that the department has also written to all district heads of Jammu region regarding closure of parks and gardens.

Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sushma Chauhan told UNI, "As of now parks are not closed except Bagh-e-Baju and Bhour Camp garden but restrictions are imposed on gathering of four people or more than that under relevant sections of Disaster Management."

As a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the entry of foreign tourists in Jammu and Kashmir is banned.

So far, three people have been tested positive in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier in the day, in view of rising threat of coronavirus, Jammu and Kashmir administration suspended pilgrimage to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine while all operation of all inter-state buses has also been shut.

The Twitter handle of Directorate of Information and Public Relations said, "Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra has been closed from today."

It further mentioned, "Operations of All Inter State Buses-Incoming and Outgoing from J&K, banned from today."
