Varanasi/UNI: The fast track court on Monday fixed July 8 as the next date of hearing on an application seeking permission to allow daily worship of the Shivling-like structure found inside the Gyanvapi mosque complex in Varanasi.

Earlier in the day, the fast court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) Mahendra Kumar Pandey heard the application and had reserved its order till 4 pm.

During the hearing, Abhay Nath Yadav, the counsel of the respondent side, sought a copy of the application.

It may be noted that initially the application was moved to the court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) Ravi Kumar Diwakar on May 24, who transferred it to the fast track court on May 25.

The application has been filed by General Secretary of Vishwa Vaidik Sanatan Sangh Kiran Singh.

Singh in her application requested that the entry of Muslims should be restricted into the Gyanvapi mosque and that its premises should be handed over to Hindus.

The applicant has also requested that permission should be given for daily worship of the Shivling-like structure, which was found in the wazookhana inside the complex.
