Court extends arrested Bengal minister Jyotipriya Mallick's ED remand in ration scam case

Kolkata/IBNS/UNI: A Special court here Monday extended the Enforcement Directorate (ED) remand of arrested West Bengal minister Jyotipriya Mallick by another week.

State forest minister Mallick, who earlier handled the food and supplies portfolio, was arrested after marathon questioning by the federal investigation agency at his house on October 27 for his alleged link to the statutory ration scam during the Covid period.

The Minister was presented before the Bankshall Court during the day as his previous ED remand had ended.

The counsel for ED sought his remand for seven more days, to which the special court agreed since the opponent (advocates of the minister) did not oppose the extension.

“ I am not well," said the forest minister while being brought out of the ED office at the Salt Lake CGO for production before the special court at Dalhousie.
