Court asks Kejriwal to explain meaning of his remark 'Thulla'
New Delhi, July 13 (IBNS): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been asked by the court to explain why he used the word 'thulla' to describe the Delhi Police a year ago, the remark being a Hindi slang for "thug".
Kejriwal has, however, being relieved from appearing before the Delhi High Court on Thursday in connection with the case.
The Delhi Chief Minister was earlier summoned for hearing on Thursday but has been granted exemption till August 21.
The Delhi High Court has reportedly warned him that he will have to satisfy the judges with his explanation and with the meaning of the word that was allegedly to describe Delhi cops.
The judge said thulla is not to be found in the dictionary he consulted.
Two Delhi Police constables had earlier lodged complaints of criminal defamation against the Delhi Chief Minister for his alleged remarks against policemen.
The CM had used the term during an interview with a television channel.
The court issued summons after hearing a defamation complaint filed against the AAP supremo by constable Ajay Kumar Taneja of Lajpat Nagar police station.
