Coronavirus outbreak: One more tested positive in Jammu, cinema halls, schools shut in 5 districts

Jammu/UNI: In view of one more case was found positive of Coronavirus in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday ordered closure of all primary schools in five districts and cinema halls in ten districts of Jammu Division.

"As one more person was found positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, Government has ordered closure of all Cinema Halls, Anganwadi Centres and primary schools in the region," an official said.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan also spoke to LGs of J&K and Ladakh to get feedback about the condition of COVID-19 affected patients kept in isolation wards in hospitals and problems being faced, if any, by the two Governments in availability of required supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE), masks, etc.

"All Primary schools, Cinema Halls and Anganwari centres in the five districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi and Udhampur to be closed till March 31," Principal Secretary Rohit Kansal, who is also the Government spokesman wrote on micro-blogging site.

He further said, "cinema halls in all 10 districts of Jammu province to remain closed till March 31."

He stated that as many as 706 people were under surveillance in J&K and out of 56 suspected samples tested for COVID-19, one was declared as positive, 26 negative and 29 reports were awaited.

He added Coronavirus lab testing facilities were started in Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, Srinagar and Government Medical College Jammu and five samples (including one already declared positive, one high viral load case and three others who came in contact of these two) were tested in VRDL lab of GMC Jammu.
