Coronavirus a living organism, has right to live: Former Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat

Dehradun/IBNS: In a bizarre comment amid the pandemic, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has said Novel Coronavirus is a living organism and it has a right to live.

In an interview with a private channel, Rawat said as quoted by NDTV, "Seen from a philosophical angle, coronavirus is also a living organism. It has the right to live like the rest of us.

"But we (humans) think ourselves to be the most intelligent and are out to eliminate it. So it is constantly mutating itself."

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has, however, said there is a need to outpace the virus to remain safe.

Rawat has been trolled on social media for his weird comment at a time the country is devastated by the second wave of the pandemic.

Few days ago, BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh, Surendra Singh, had said the Covid-19 can be defeated by drinking cow urine.

Singh had called on people to drink cow urine. He had also posted a video of himself drinking cow urine on social media.
