Congress Party is for GST: Rahul Gandhi

Bangalore, Nov 25 (IBNS): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said his party wants the GST.

He said the party wants few changes in the current GST Bill.

"If the government wants to pass the GST then it has to understand that the Congress party sits in the Parliament," Gandhi said.

"Yes, we do want a GST. We ready to talk on GST. Wewant a GST which suits the country and which is beneficial for it," Gandhi said.

On the issue, Office of RG tweeted,"Congress Party is for GST.But we have a few concerns on the current Bill. Govt approach has to be of reaching out."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday stressed the “need for all political parties to work together to enable the Parliament function to the expectations of the people of the country”.

Speaking at the Meeting of Leaders of All Parties and Groups in both Houses of Parliament, Prime Minister expressed happiness over leaders of various parties favouring smooth functioning of Parliament during the Winter session beginning on Thursday.

Prime Minister further said that Finance Minister Arun Jaitely is talking to leaders of different parties regarding GST Bill.
