Congress names Somen Mitra as West Bengal party chief

New Delhi/Kolkata, Sept 21 (IBNS): The Congress on Friday named senior leader Somen Mitra as the party's chief in West Bengal.

He will replace Adhir Ranajan Chowdhury.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, who served as the Congress chief in the state for several years, has been appointed as the chairman of the state units campaign committee.

The West Bengal Congress tweeted: "Congratulations to @SomenMitraINC for his appointment as the new WBPCC president. We also congratulate all the new appointees for various posts and roles in WBPCC. We look forward to work together and bring back the glory days of the Party in West Bengal." 

The party also named Shankar Malakar, Nepal Mahato and Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury as working president of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC).
