Congress' manifesto for Raj polls promises farm loan waiver, free women's education

Jaipur, Nov 29 (IBNS): With little more than a week to go for the Rajasthan polls, the Congress on Thursday released its manifesto which promises farm loan waiver and free women's education.

Rajasthan Congress president Sachin Pilot along with other veteran party leaders released the manifesto here.

Regarding the promise of farm loan waiver, Pilot said: "We will waive farm loans as Rahul Gandhi (Congress chief) had promised. Farmers in Rajasthan will get an opportunity to have new beginning."

Pilot also announced that old farmers will get pensions if the Congress comes to power. He also said the Congress government, if formed, will try to keep the cost of farm implements outside Goods and Services tax (GST).

The state Congress chief alleged that farmers suffered the most during the five years of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule under Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

In the education sector, the Congress promised it would make education cost for all women free. "Rajasthan will be the first state to bear the education fee of all women," said Pilot.

To meet the demands of the job market, the Congress, if voted to power, said it will align the academic courses with the corporate sector.

Taking a jibe at the BJP's claims of employment in five years, Pilot said the Congress will support unemployed educated youth with an amount of Rs. 3,500 every month.

Apart from stating his party's manifesto, Pilot on Thursday said the BJP should first apologise to people for not keeping promises which it made last time.

The state is going to polls on Dec 7 and the results will come out on 11th of the same month.
