Congress manifesto for Madhya Pradesh promises to ban RSS sessions in govt buildings, BJP hits back

Bhopal, Nov 12 (IBNS): In its manifesto for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls, the Congress has promised that it will not allow the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological patron of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), to conduct their sessions in government buildings if voted to power.

The manifesto left the BJP irked with leaders attacking the Congress over the poll promise.

BJP MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe attacked the Congress and said the party was planning to take the nation to the era of emergency.

"We knew that they wanted to take Madhya Pradesh backwards to pre-2003 Days of Deprivation! But now their manifesto brings the cat out of bag. They want to take State further backwards to pre-1977 Days of Draconian Rule and impose ban on RSS #CongressFearsRSS !#BackToEmergency," he tweeted.

BJP's social media head Priti Gandhi asked Congress chief Rahul Gandhi to clarify his party's stance on the matter.

She tweeted: "Page 80 of the Madhya Pradesh Congress manifesto promises to put a ban RSS Shakha's. Also, permissions given to govt officials & employees to attend the shakha's will be revoked. Are we back in the Emergency era @RahulGandhi?? Will you please clarify?? "

Madhya Pradesh is all set to vote to elect a new Assembly on Nov 28.

Counting of votes will take place on Dec 11.

The BJP is ruling the state for past several years and CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan is attempting to come back to power for the fourth consecutive term.

Congress is clashing against the ruling party to return to power in the politically crucial state after 2003.
