New Delhi, July 21 (IBNS) The Congress on Tuesday hit out at the Centre and asked the reason behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the Vyapam scam and the controversy surrounding former IPL chief Lalit Modi.

Senior Congress leader Ananda Sharma said, "The PM keeps talking on Twitter and Facebook, has an army of so called supporters but does not utter a word on scandals."

Referring to the wash out of several session of the Parliament during Congress-led UPA's regime, the former Union Minister said: "We like to remind Arun Jaitley and Sushma ji that many sessions were completely washed out during UPA,even after resignations."

"In 10 years of UPA there was in irresponsible opposition in the form of BJP, but now we have a responsible opposition," he said.

The Lalit Modi issue forced adjournment in the  Rajya Sabha as the monsoon session of Parliament began on Tuesday with the opposition Congress training its gun at  the Narendra Modi government for alleged scams and favouritism.

As expected, the opposition, led by the 44-member Congress raised the issue just at the start of the session even though Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the government is ready for discussions.

As the Modi issue continued to rock the Rajya Sabha, the house was adjourned till 12 pm. The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day after obituary references.
