Congress, BJP exchange barbs over Narendra Modi's speech in US

New Delhi, Sept 28 (IBNS): Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the Congress in San Jose, the BJP and the Congress are engaged in a battle of words with each other with ruling party's spokesperson MJ Akbar calling Rahul Gandhi the 'spoilt child' of Indian politics.

"PM is devoted to his mother, he touched her feet after his election victory. This is in contrast to the Congress where a mother has ruined the party," Akbar hit Congress as he made a veiled attack on the party president Sonia Gandhi.

"It is this doting behaviour which has made Rahul Gandhi into the spoilt child of Indian politics," he said.

Congress leader Anand Sharma earlier in the day slammed Modi by saying that he insulted his mother by telling she used to clean utensils in others house.

"It is disturbing to see the country is being represented by a showman Prime Minister," Sharma said

Modi on Sunday visited Facebook headquarters, where during the Q&A session hosted by company's Mark Zuckerberg, broke down  while talking about the struggles faced by his mother.

Taking the 'damaad' (son-in-law) swipe, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi  slammed the Congress as he addressed the Indian community in  San Jose on Monday.

Targeting the Gandhi family and which is seen to be a reference to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra and the  land deals that have triggered controversies, Modi said: "A person made 50 crores, that son made 250 crores , then daughter made 500 crores, someone's damaad (son-in-law) even made  1000 crores."

Modi said he will live and die for his country.

"I can assure you that I will live and die for the nation," Modi said.
