Congress best-equipped to lead anti-BJP alliance: Tejashwi Yadav

| @indiablooms | Jan 20, 2019, at 05:01 pm

New Delhi, Jan 20 (IBNS): RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday said the Congress was "best-equipped" to lead the alliance of anti-BJP parties.

"I don't find anything wrong if the Congress plays a pivotal role in forming the alliance or taking the leadership role of the alliance into the elections. But having said that, they have to accept that each state has different ground realities," the former Bihar deputy-chief minister told Indian news agency PTI.

He said the Congress was in that position because it was the party with the largest national footprint. "However, the Congress will have to handle their leadership role with large-heartedness," he said. "In states where Congress doesn't have a robust base, it must allow regional outfits to occupy the frontal-attack position against the BJP."

Lalu Prasad's son on Saturday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the grand alliance rally in West Bengal's Kolkata organised by CM Mamata Banerjee, and called him the “manufacturer, wholesaler and distributor of lies”.

“Modi ji is manufacturer, wholesaler and distributor of lies…he speaks one lie and give 10 more with it as gift,” Tejashwi warned the public.

He had said his father Lalu Prasad was framed by the BJP and had been paying the price for not surrendering before the “communal forces”.
