Coal India will surpass target of 550 million tonnes of production: Piyush Goyal
Kolkata, Nov 2 (IBNS): Coal India will not only achieve the target of producing 550 millon tones of coal this financial year, but will surpass the target, Union Coal and Power Minister Piyush Goyal has said.
Addressing a function on the occasion of Foundation Day of Coal India in Kolkata on Monday, the Minister asserted that Coal India Limited is heading towards achieving its production target of one billion tonnes per year by 2019-20.
Saying that India is the 3rd Largest producer of Coal in the world, the Minister emphasized on ‘Coal: From Mine to Market”.
India will not depend any more on imports of thermal coal within two years, Goyal added.
Among others, Anil Swarup, Secretary, Ministry of Coal and Coal India Limited Chairman Sutirth Bhatacharya were present at the occasion.
