Church of choice allegedly denies burial to Priyanka Chopra's grandmother

Kottayam, Jun 9 (IBNS): Actor Priyanka Chopra's maternal grandmother, who passed away on Friday, could not be buried in the church of her choice, according to media reports.

The actor's grandmother, Madhu Jyotsana Akhauri (Mary John), had expressed a desire to be buried in the St John's Attamangalam Church in her hometown, Kumarakom, Kerala, family sources told the media.

But the church allegedly turned down the request citing that she had broken her ties with the church after marrying a Hindu and did not re-join the church, the media reported.

The funeral of Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra's maternal grandmother was then conducted at St Thomas Jacobite Church in Ponkunnam, Kerala.
