Chinese state media aggravates India-China NSG row
New Delhi/Beijing, Jun 28 (IBNS): An editorial in the Global Times, a tabloid published by the Communist Party's official mouth piece, People's daily, claims that 10 countries, including China, is opposed to Indian's entry into NSG.
In response to India seeking membership in the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), China' state run media, on Tuesday, described India as "a bit smug" in its dealing with the international community, a result of Delhi's being "spoiled" by the West, reported NDTV.
China, which prevented India from being a member of the NSG last week, said that membership cannot be granted to India because it has not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), the main global arms pact, media reported.
The 48-nation NSG controls the trade and transfer of nuclear technology and ensures against the proliferation of nuclear arms.
A group of Indian protesters demonstrated outside the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi on Tuesday, according to media reports.
