Child Rights body issues notice to SP for handcuffing minor in Telengana

Hyderabad, Sept 19 (IBNS) The Telangana Child Rights body has issued notice to Medak Superintendent of Police, seeking a report within a week on the handcuffing of a boy, who was being taken to correctional home, reports said.

he move came after a video of the minor being handcuffed was made public.

The Child Rights body has also written to the state Home Secretary about the incident and the need for sensitising the police about the prevailing law that prohibits juveniles being handcuffed.

The 14-year-old boy was allegedly involved in a theft in Medak district.

Medak SP, Sumanthy has issued a memo to the two constables who were escorting the boy.
