Chennai rains: TN govt orders all schools to remain closed tomorrow

Chennai, Oct 30 (IBNS): As Chennai is witnessing havoc downpour which has practically left life out of gear in the city, the Tamil Nadu government has directed all schools to remain closed on Tuesday.

With forecast of more rainfall,  the Tamil Nadu government has taken this step to ensure safety of the children.

Earlier, at least one person was killed in Tamil Nadu as rains pounded several parts of the state, partially disrupting normal life, reports said.

The heavy downpour caused deluge and traffic snarls in some areas.

According to reports the  mud wall of a hut collapsed killing a 38-year-old man in Thinnaiyoor near Thanjavur district.

The Met office has forecast heavy to very heavy rains in some areas of coastal districts, including Chennai  and its neighbourhood, in the next 24 hours.
