Hyderabad/IBNS: A blast at a chemical factory in Telangana killed six people and injured 20 others in Hyderabad on Monday, media reports said.

The blast took place at an industrial unit at Pashamailaram near Hyderabad.

It occurred at around 9 am.

Eleven fire engines were rushed to the spot to douse the fire.

The injured, many of whom are critical, were rushed to hospital.

Rescue and relief operations were launched by police, fire services and other personnel.

The eyewitnesses claim the blast was so impactful that the entire factory collapsed and the workers' bodies tossed in the air and fell several metres away.

The fire spread to other buildings in the adjoining areas.
