Ceremonial welcome given to PM Modi at Tanzania

Dar-es-Salaam, July 10 (IBNS): On his arrival at Tanzania, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday received a ceremonial welcome.

"Starting the programmes in Tanzania with the ceremonial welcome," the PMO India tweeted.

Modi landed in Tanzania on Sunday morning.

Visiting the airport, Prime Minister of Tanzania Kassim Majaliwa welcomed Modi to his nation.

The Indian PM tweeted: "Landed to a lively welcome in Tanzania."

Speaking on the trip, MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said: "A special gesture for a special visit. PM of Tanzania, Mr. Kassim Majaliwa welcomed PM @narendramodi at the airport."

The Indian Prime Minister is very optimistic about his visit to this country.

"Reached Tanzania. Am very optimistic about this visit and I am confident it will usher in a new era in India-Tanzania ties," PM Modi posted.

Modi arrived in the nation from South Africa where he visited several places associated with India's  'Father of the Nation' Mahatma Gandhi.

"This South Africa visit has been a 'Tirth Yatra’ for me. Got an opportunity to visit places so closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi," Modi tweeted.

"My gratitude to the people & Government of South Africa for extending a warm welcome & the memorable hospitality during my stay here," he said.

He said the visit the nation 'satisfying'.

"Its been a satisfying South Africa visit, where I have been able to attend such a wide variety of programmes & interact with so many people," he said.

Modi is currently on a four-nation Africa tour.
