CEC Rajiv Kumar reviews preparations for the Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar is holding series of meetings on Tuesday to review the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

Kumar along with nine other top officials of the Commission reached Srinagar last evening and was received by chief electoral officer J&K.

The CEC Kumar is meeting top civil and police officials in Srinagar on Tuesday to review the preparation for the upcoming polls.

“ The CEC will review the Poll preparedness in the UT for the Lok Sabha elections,” a senior official said.

On Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police R R Swain said that the police and security forces are ready to conduct the parliamentary elections.

The election panel is also scheduled to meet representatives of political parties.

The mainstream parties in Kashmir have been demanding holding simultaneous Assembly elections with the Parliament polls.

The last assembly elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir in 2014.

The polls panel will visit Jammu on Wednesday and hold deliberations with the officials.
