New Delhi, Sep 23 (IBNS): The tenure of India's Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Arvind Subramanian has been extended by a year, according to media reports on Saturday.

His three-year tenure is scheduled to end on October 16, 2017.

The media reported that Union Minister Arun Jaitley has confirmed that Subramanian will continue in his post until October 2018.

A tweet from the Union Finance Ministry said, "FM @arunjaitley : CEA Dr. Arvind Subramanian will continue for one more year after completion of his 3 year tenure on 16th October, 2017."

A couple of days back there was a rumour that Subramanian was going to resign prior to his term ending, which was later denied by the Union Finance Ministry, according to media reports.
