CBSE exams in Punjab postponed today due to 'Bharat Bandh'

New Delhi, Apr 2 (IBNS): The Central Board of Secondary Education has postponed  class 12 and class 10 exams that were scheduled to be held in Punjab as Dalit orgnisations have called a nation-wide strike on Monday, media reports said.

According to reports, all schools and colleges in Punjab will remained closed on Monday.

Security has been beefed up across the state.

In Punjab, keeping in mind the strike, mobile internet services  has been suspended while public transport services are not going to be available to commuters, media reports said.

The Dalit organisations have called the strike in a bid to protest against the alleged dilution of the the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989.

Class 10 and 12 examinations conducted by the CBSE has been hit by paper leak incidents this year.

The Delhi Police have arrested three people in connection with the CBSE paper leak incident, officials said.

The arrested people include two teachers of a private school in northwest Delhi.

The head of a coaching centre was also arrested by the police.

The government on Sunday one official, who was in charge of the exam centre in outer Delhi's Bawana, has been suspended.

Union Education Secretary Anil Swarup said the suspended person has been identified as KS Rana.

After leak incident came to light, on Wednesday, the CBSE had announced retests for the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economics subjects.
