Kolkata/IBNS: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday carried out raids at three locations in West Bengal in connection with its probe into a Kolkata-based chit fund scam, officials said.

According to sources in the Central probe agency, three premises belonging to ponzi firm Mantram E-Services Limited's directors, Samrat Bhattacharya and Priyanka Bhattacharya, were raided.

"Raids were conducted at one premise at Fern Road in south Kolkata's Ballygunge area and two locations in North 24 Parganas' Naihati today and several documents have been seized," a CBI official said.

Promoting false and fake schemes and violating SEBI and RBI guidelines, Mantram E-Services allegedly collected investments in crores illegally from the market.

After being directed by the Supreme Court, CBI has been probing the cases of 44 such chit fund companies since 2014.
