New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Friday knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court, challenging the bail granted by the Jharkhand High Court to former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, a convict in the fodder scam case.

The CBI moved the apex court, seeking a direction from it that the bail granted by the Jharkhand High Court to Lalu Prasad Yadav be cancelled.

The CBI mentioned the matter before the bench led by the Chief Justice of India (CJI), Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud, who agreed to list the plea of the CBI against the 74-year-old RJD leader on August 25.

The Jharkhand High Court had granted bail to Lalu in four cases of withdrawals from Dumka, Chaibasa, Doranda, and Deogarh treasuries.

It had granted bail to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo, Lalu Prasad, in the Doranda Treasury Case, in which a CBI special court had sentenced him to five years in prison.

The former Bihar Chief Minister was sentenced to five years in prison and slapped with a fine of Rs 60 lakh by a special CBI court in Ranchi in connection with the fifth fodder scam case involving embezzlement of over Rs 139 crore in the Doranda treasury.
