New Delhi: Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra, who was questioned by the Lok Sabha ethics committee on Thursday in the alleged cash-for-query row, left the meeting along with opposition party members of Parliament, including BSP MP Danish Ali, who is a member of the committee.

Moitra, who was summoned to testify before the panel regarding accusations of cash-for-query, criticized the committee for posing ‘filthy questions’.

According to a report in the media, Moitra asserted her innocence in response to the charges against her, asserting that she believed the allegations were driven by animosity from Supreme Court advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, following the end of their personal relationship.

Congress MP and panel member N Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Janata Dal (United) MP Giridhari Yadav alleged that the committee asked personal questions to Moitra, which they had no right to ask, said the report.

Mahua Moitra slammed the committee and accused it of ‘reading from a script,’ said the report.

She also came down heavily on a reporter, who apparently asked her if she had tears in her eyes.

Moitra was summoned on the basis of reports received from three ministries along with documents and evidence.

Supreme Court lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai, who filed the complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and whom she referred to as her "jilted ex".

As per a report in the media, Moitra mostly dwelled on her relationship with Dehadrai as she appeared to blame him for leaks and the allegations.

Moitra received backing from some opposition members, including N Uttam Kumar Reddy from the Congress and Danish Ali from the Bahujan Samaj Party.

On the other hand, a few BJP members, including VD Sharma, urged her to address the substantial aspects of the allegations rather than focusing solely on the deterioration of personal relationships.
