Car lifter sent to five days police custody

Guwahati, Apr 18 (IBNS) : A local court in Guwahati on Saturday sent Anil Chauhan, kingpin of auto theft gang, to five days police custody.

Police produced the arrested car lifter before CJM court of Kamrup(Metro) and sought seven days custody but the court reduced it to five days.

Anil Chauhan was arrested by the Guwahati city police on Apr 2 at Azara, outskirts of Guwahati.

In connection with the auto theft racket, police arrested Assam Congress legislator Dr Rumi Nath, who was sent to judicial custody up to Apr 27.

On other hand, police had seized some incriminating documents during the search operation at a rent house of Anil Chauhan at Mirza in Kamrup(Rural) district on Friday night.
