By-polls held in three Lok Sabha, 33 Assembly seats today

New Delhi, Sep 13 (IBNS): By-polls are being held in three Lok Sabha constituencies and 33 Assembly segments across 10 states on Saturday.

Gujarat’s Vadodara constituency which was vacated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is undergoing a by-election. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Ranjan Ben Bhatta in Vadodara against Narendra Rawat of the Congress.

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s grand nephew Tej Pratap Yadav, a Leeds University graduate, is debuting as the party’s candidate from Mainpuri seat, a constituency vacated by the SP supremo as he retained Azamgarh.

By-elections are also being held to the Medak Lok Sabha (LS) seat vacated by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao after he became the first Chief Minister of newly-born state of Telangana.

Polling is taking place in 13 assembly seats in Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura and West Bengal. The counting will take place on Tuesday.

In West Bengal, Chowringhee and Basirhat Assembly seats are witnessing by-election on Saturday.
