Bus mows down woman in Kolkata, class-V students dies after rammed by dumper in W. Medinipur

Kolkata, Jan 13 (IBNS): A middle-aged woman was killed and her husband was injured when speeding public bus lost its control and hit their motorcycle at Kaikhali area under Baguiati Police Station limits on Friday morning, reports said.

According to reports, a Barasat to B. Garden bound private bus rammed into a bike and mowed down the pillion rider woman at around 10:15 am.

The deceased woman has been identified as Moumita Pal (29), according to police reports.

Husband of the woman was seriously injured in the mishap and rushed to a nearby hospital.

Police, however, seized the bus and arrested its driver.

Meanwhile a dumper, filled with sands, mowed down a fifth standard student, Subhajit kole, at Chandrakona Town area in West Medinipur district of West Bengal on Friday.

Following the accident, locals staged demonstration at the crash site and vandalized two police vehicles.

A heavy police force was deployed to the area to bring the situation under control.

The killer dumper was seized and its driver was arrested, reports said.
