Burdwan blast: Police arrest Sajid

Kolkata, Nov 8 (IBNS): The Bidhannagar City Police on Saturday arrested suspected Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) commander Sajid, who is the mastermind of Burdwan blast case, from Dumdum airport area here.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has declared that Sajid alias Rahamatullah was the chief the Burdwan module and they also announced a reward of 10 lakhs for any information leading to his arrest.

The commissioner of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, Rajeev Kumar told IBNS that the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) team of the Bidhannagar Police, in association with the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal and the Kolkata Police, have arrested Sajid from the city.

The Police have seized 1 lakh rupees, a false PAN card and a voter card from him.

NIA officials said that when he will be presented to the court they will appeal to get NIA custody of Sajid.

A sessions court in Kolkata on the same day sent the key conspirator in the Burdwan blast case Zia-ul-Haq to seven- day NIA custody.

On Oct 2, a terror module got busted in Khagragarh in West Bengal's Burdwan district after an inadvertent explosion took place when suspected Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorists were making Improvised Explosive Device (IED), thus killing 2 of them.
