Burdwan blast key accused arrested from Assam

New Delhi, Dec 6 (IBNS): Burdwan accidental blast key accused, identified as Sahanur Alam, was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) late on Friday night, media reports said.

Alam, alias Doctor, is alleged to be the financial brain of the terror group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). He was arrested in the Nalbari district of Assam in a joint operation by Assam Police and the NIA sleuths.

He hailed from Chatala village in Assam's Barpeta district. Sources said Alam allegedly arranged the money for the Indian modules of JMB.

The central investigation agency had been tailing Alam since his name surfaced in the call records and interrogation of Sajid, another accused in the October 2 blast at Khagragarh in West Bengal’s Burdwan district that killed two suspected militants.

The NIA had last month arrested Alam’s wife. The agency had also declared a reward of Rs.5 lakh for anyone providing any information about him.
