BSP will fight UP polls alone: Mayawati

| @indiablooms | Nov 30, 2021, at 07:38 pm

Lucknow/UNI: Reiterating that her party will go alone in the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Tuesday blamed the Centre as well as the State government for conspiring to weaken the reservation system.

"I have repeatedly said that BSP will have no pre-poll alliance in UP assembly polls and the party will contest all the 403 seats," she said .

BSP is contesting the Punjab assembly polls in an alliance with the Akali Dal, she said and confidently added that BSP will come into power in UP similarly like 2007.

Talking to reporters here, the former UP CM said that today she reviewed the preparation of the reserved and some other assembly seats with Most Backward, Muslims and Jat leaders.

"The governments are conspiring to weaken the reservation system which was enforced through Article 340 of the Constitution made by Dr B R Ambedkar," she asserted.

Mayawati also said that denying a backward census by the BJP also shows their anti-backward attitude.

"The Muslims too were harassed in this BJP regime with fake criminals cases lodged against them," she added.

"In today's meeting, we discussed all the issues with the leaders and sorted out problems which could hinder our win in these reserved seats", the supremo added.

Of the total 86 reserved assembly seats in UP assembly, in 2017 polls, BSP could win only 2 seats while majority 76 seats were won by BJP and its allies.
