Bombay High Court summons Sharad Pawar's grandson Rohit on charges of corruption

Aurangabad/Maharashtra/UNI: The Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court has issued notice to Karjat-Jamkhed newly elected NCP MLA Rohit Pawar, who is also the grandson of NCP chief Sharad Pawar, on charges of adopting corrupt practices to win the election.

Justice S M Gavane heard the petition filed by BJP leader Ram Shinde and an independent candidate Rohit Rajendra Pawar on Tuesday, seeking his disqualification.

The petitioners contended in their petition that Pawar made defamatory statements in the election period and has adopted a corrupt practices including hiding actual election expenses to win the election.

The petition further stated Pawar, who is CEO of Baramati Agra Company, has discharged his employees from duty and utilised them in Assembly election campaigning in constituency.

It also claimed that Rs 1,000 had paid by NCP to each voter to vote in favour of Mr Pawar as well as defamation messages against Shinde have been posted on various social media.

Another petitioner, Rohit Rajendra Pawar alleged that his nomination was intentionally rejected even though all the information was filled in.

The court has issued notice to MLA Rohit Pawar and next hearing would be held on Mar 13.
