Mumbai, Dec 17 (IBNS) Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam with a series of tweets sparked a controversy when he said he hated being woken up in morning by the sound of azaan calling it "forced religiousness" since he is not a Muslim.

"God bless everyone. I'm not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India," he asked in his tweet which triggered a huge online reaction.

"And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam.. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?" he asked.

"I don't believe in any temple or gurudwara using electricity.. To wake up people who don't follow the religion . Why then..? Honest? True?" he tweeted.

"Gundagardi hai bus...[this is just rowdyism]" he posted.

While many supported his opinion, many on Twitter ridiculed the Indian Idol 9 judge for being woken up to his songs forcefully owing to blaring of loudspeakers.
