Kolkata, Jun 20 (IBNS) One person was injured in a minor explosion in the playground of a school in Kolkata's Dum Dum cantonment area on Saturday morning.

Reports said the blast took place when students and staff members of Assembly of God Church School were cleaning the playground.

The injured, Jonny Haldar, is an employee of the institute. He has been admitted to hospital in a critical condition.

According to witness reports,  the Mather Teresa Church had organized a football match in the Assembly of God Church School campus. While cleaning up the field Haldar saw a black round shaped object. As he threw it away it exploded after falling on the ground.

Haldar  was taken immediately to Dumdum Municipality Hospital and then  was shifted to R. G. Kar Hospital in Kolkata.

Police have started investigation into the case

"We are searching for those who planted the bomb on the ground," one police officer said.
