BJP's Karnataka legislature party meets to decide the next CM after BSY's resignation

Bengaluru/IBNS: The decision on Karnataka succession can come soon as the BJP state legislature party will meet this evening following BS Yediyurappa's resignation last evening, according to media reports.

An NDTV report said BJP has designated two union ministers -- Dharmendra Pradhan and G Kishan Reddy -- as the central observers of the meeting, which is slated from 7 pm.

BJP MLA and Yediyurappa's son BS Raghvendra said it was too early to say who would be the next CM, the report said.

"The BJP's decisions can never be foretold. For example -- Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh, Devendra Fadnavis in Maharashtra. Even the cabinet reshuffle was done based on several parameters. So it's difficult to say," he was quoted as saying by NDTV.

"It is only yesterday that the resignation took place. The high command is in a discussion to see who can head Karnataka. It will happen," he added.

On Monday evening, Yediyurappa gave his reignation to Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot at the Raj Bhavan after heading the state for two years.

The report said that Yediyurappa maintained that he quit "voluntarily" and will continue to remain active in state politics.
