BJP's condition not good in Gujarat: BSP chief Mayawati

| @indiablooms | Oct 30, 2022, at 09:45 pm

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Sunday said ahead of the state assembly elections in Gujarat, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made Uniform Civil Code an election issue, which proves that the situation of the party is not really good in the state.

Mayawati also accused BJP of raising divisive issues instead of development and employment.

"Unlike UP and other states, BJP is making a controversial and divisive issue an election plank in Gujarat, instead of employment and development gives strength to the general discussion that the party condition there is not really well," she tweeted.

She reminded that the Supreme Court has also warned the government not to take any decision on Uniform Civil Code.

"While the center itself had recently said in the Supreme Court that no decision should be taken on the issue of Uniform Civil Code as it will submit it to the 22nd Law Commission, then what is going to happen in the Gujarat Assembly elections, which is distracting BJP and making it bow down," BSP supremo added.

The BSP chief also indirectly accused the BJP of getting a lot of money from unknown sources through electoral bonds.

"Also, how appropriate is the use of funds received from sources unknown to the public to influence elections? The latest figures show that before the general elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, donations worth Rs 545 crore have been given through secret funding of electoral bonds. Where is this money going?," she said in another tweet.
