| @indiablooms | Mar 11, 2019, at 07:55 pm

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Amid intense debate about the poll schedule in West Bengal, the BJP on Monday said the party will soon approach the poll panel to ensure that state police personnel under Mamata Banerjee government is not be deployed much for the ensuing polls.

"We will meet Election Commission tomorrow and will request them to keep local police away from the election process. Central forces must be deployed for Lok Sabha elections in Bengal," BJP leader and in-charge for West Bengal Kailash Vijayvargiya told reporters here.

Trinamool legal cell leader Devjani Dasgupta and two leaders of West Bengal Congress on Monday joined the saffron party here in presence of Mr Vijayvargiya and party leader Mukul Roy.

Two Congress leaders to join BJP are - AICC member Gautam Ghosh and Kolkata Congress Committee general secretary Rakesh Kumar Singh.

Mr Roy also claimed that several leaders from Trinamool including a few MPs, MLAs and organisation leaders are in touch with him and are keen to join the BJP.

"There is police rule in West Bengal. If anyone comes to BJP from any other party, false cases were being slapped. After the implementation of Model Code of Conduct, we expect that democracy will be restored. A lot of senior leaders of TMC and grassroots level workers will also join BJP," Mr Vijayvargiya said.

The BJP, whose vote share has increased in recent months in the state, is ambitious about picking up at least 20-22 seats out of 42 but is looking for popular faces to contest elections.
