BJP wins civic polls in Maharashtra's Sangli and Jalgaon

Mumbai, Aug 3 (IBNS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday emerged victorious in the civic body polls in Sangli and Jalgaon in Maharashtra.

According to reports, the BJP won 41 out of the 78 seats in the Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad Municipal Corporation.

The Congress managed to bag only 20.

In Jalgaon, the BJP defeated Shiv Sena by winning 57 of 75 seats.

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won three seats, while Independents won two seats.
