BJP wins Bengaluru civic body election

Bengaluru, Aug 25 (IBNS): In a major setback for the ruling Congress party in Karnataka, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday won the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) polls.
This is the first time in three decades that BJP, which does not rule the state, has won Bengaluru's civic election.

The BJP has won 100 wards, which gives it a majority in the 198-ward BBMP.

Following the result, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: "After MP & Rajasthan, BBMP poll results complete a hat-trick of wins for BJP. This is a win for politics of development & good governance."
