BJP veteran M M Joshi demands ouster of JNU VC M Jagadesh Kumar

New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI/IBNS): Amid ongoing violence and raging controversy related to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), BJP veteran and former HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi on Thursday demanded that the varsity Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar is not implementing the ''government proposal'' on fees and thus should be removed.

''It is shocking that the VC is adamant for not implementing the government proposal. This attitude (of VC) is deplorable and in my opinion such a VC should not be allowed to continue on this post,"  Joshi tweeted.

The students have been demanding a complete rollback of the fee hike announced earlier.

The government had last month formed a panel to resolve the stand-off and as per the new formula suggested that the utility and service charges would be borne by the UGC.

Meanwhile, sources close to JNU VC Kumar said there has been 'no deviation' from the formula as suggested by the Union HRD Ministry.

Kumar is also under attack for Jan 5 night violence in the JNU campus.
