Agartala/Kohima/Shillong, Mar 3 (IBNS): A saffron wave is sweeping the Northeast with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) set to uninstall the 25-year-old Left bastion in Tripura where it is leading along with Nagaland even as they trailed in Meghalaya where Congress is ahead, according to the latest trends of poll results.

In a historic mandate in Tripura, the BJP is leading in 42 seats leaving just 19 for the incumbent Left.

In Nagaland, the BJP is leading in 29 seats while NPF is ahead in 26 seats. The Congress is ahead in just 1 seat.

In Meghalaya, the trends are hinting at a hung Assembly. The Congress here is appearing as the single largest party with 21 seats. NPP is leading in 14 seats and BJP in only 5 seats.

Meanwhile, reacting to the results in Tripura, BJP leader Ram Madhav said: "It is a historic revolutionary result. BJP Parliamentary board will meet to select the chief minister."
