Siliguri/Kolkata, Apr 25 (IBNS): Before addressing the people of Bengal and introducing Mission Bengal for 2019, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah had Bengali food which was served on banana leaf, in Naxalbari, on Tuesday, media reports.

Shah received a warm welcome at the house of Geeta Mahali who works as a farm labour and had an afternoon meal in her house.

Shah is on a three-day Bengal visit.

Apart from Shah, BJP state President Dilip Ghosh was also served lunch at Mahali's house.

Regarding the visit of BJP's national President in her house, Mahali said: "Such a big man has come to my house."

Shah was offered fully vegetarian meal in contradictory to the fish and rice which is common among Bengali dishes.

Commencing his West Bengal visit, BJP President Amit Shah on Tuesday reached Naxalbari village and said his party will 'bring back the glory of Bengal' if it voted to power.

The senior BJP leader said: "BJP is committed to bring back the glory of Bengal, the land of Tagore, Swami Vivekanand, Subhash babu, S P Mookerjee and other stalwarts."

"Reached Naxalbari in West Bengal and launched Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Vistarak Yojana,a grassroots movement to strengthen party at booth," Shah tweeted.

He said he will visit several booths for the next few days and interact with party workers in the state.

"Over the next three days, as a vistarak, I would be visiting several booths, interacting with our karyakartas and strengthening our party," the BJP president said.

"Will spread the message of PM Modi's pro-poor governance and Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas from Naxalbadi, once known for violent Red Revolution," he tweeted.

Shah said: "Huge support for BJP in recent by polls is an indication that Bengal is yearning for change from TMC's misrule and politics of appeasement."

In the recent by-poll in Contai South, the BJP pushed the CPI to the third position and went up to the second spot with more than 50000 votes, though TMC managed to win by a big margin and also improved its vote share from the 2016 assembly election.

The BJP national President even said that the saffron party will get maximum number of seats in 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Currently, BJP has two Lok Sabha seats while 34 out of 42 seats are under the belt of TMC.
