New Delhi, Aug 9 (IBNS): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are set to meet in New Delhi on Saturday to ratify the appointment of Amit Shah as the new party president.

The BJP national council meeting, first such gathering since the party stormed to power in 2014 Lok Sabha election, will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The session will start with Shah’s ratification as the new party president and conclude with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address.

The national council is expected to adopt a political resolution in the meeting that will focus on various political and economic issues, sources said. The resolution will also include various decisions taken by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.

Over 2,000 party leaders from across the county will participate in the meeting.
